Cause For Critters

Christmas Special for Special Cats

Cause for Critters is having some Christmas Specials - trying to find homes for some of our harder to place cats. These cats may be harder to place for a couple of reasons; they may be older, long-term shelter residents, have health issues, behaviour issues, or they may simply be shy. They are all great cats and would do well in homes with suitable environments. For example, the shy cat would do well in a home without kids, with someone who lives a quieter lifestyle and is patient. The cat with health issues, such as exposure to a virus, would do well in a home without any other cats as the virus is only contagious to cats. And a longer term resident may do well anywhere! Sometimes these cats are just overlooked because there are younger cats or more outgoing cats who get noticed first.  All these beautiful felines want for Christmas is a home of their own - please consider granting their simple Christmas wish.  Contact the shelter for their special Christmas adoption prices.

Cause for Critters has moved!!!!
We are open again!  Our cat bay is full of critters just waiting to see you.  Please be patient as we continue to prepare our dog bay.  Our new location is 5517-53 Avenue, just south of the bottle depot, or just up the street from the bowling alley.  (It is the old Associated Ambulance building.)  Our phone number is the same: 780-898-7297.  Please give us a call if you have any trouble finding us.

Why did Cause for Critters move?

Cause for Critters has long held the desire to be able to house both dogs and cats within our facility.  We are excited that our new, larger location will allow us to do that!

Two dogs adopted out by Cause for Critters!

We have also desired to have a closer relationship with the Town of Drayton Valley.  Our new location is owned by the town and as such we have reached an agreement with the town.  As part of this agreement, we will be working with animal control.  Cause for Critters will assume responsibility for the basic care of the animals while they are housed under animal control.  Animals who have not been claimed by their owner after the designated time period will, at the discretion of animal control, have the opportunity to be transferred into the offical care of Cause for Critters.  At this point Cause for Critters will assume responsibility for all care of the animal until the animal is adopted out from Cause for Critters.

Two animals housed in animal control: the first was successfully returned to his owner & the second is now living at Cause for Criters, awaiting adoption.

We are very excited to begin these two new ventures: housing dogs at the shelter and working closely with animal control.  As always, Cause for Critters seeks to give the best care possible to all the critters temporarily entrusted to us until we can find a loving forever home for each one.  We thank all those individuals and organizations who have supported us and our goals in the past and we hope you are able to continue this support as we venture into these new endeavours.

A huge thanks to Gruber Holdings for allowing us to have our old shelter in your location for so many years!  Words cannot express our (or the critters') gratitude!

Some kitties hanging out at the old shelter - we had some fabulous times and many adoptions at this location!

Cause For Critters Christmas Special:
This is Maggie...she has been with us for a long time. Maggie is not a young cat but she still has so much love to give. Maggie would do well in a family home where she can have undivided attention. Shelter life may be causing Maggie to get a little depressed, as there just aren't enough people or time to give a cat like Maggie the attention she craves. When you take time out to just be with her she curls up on your lap and soaks up all the love she can get. Please contact the Cause for Critters animal shelter for Maggie's special Christmas price: 5517-53 Avenue, 780-898-PAWS, or www.causeforcritters.ca.
